We had one more agility trial in Vero Beach last weekend. Cooper did a very good job! He got two qualifying scores in the open jumpers class, and got 3 points in “Time to beat” class!! Really good job; even I did not expect such results, honestly speaking. Next weekend we are going to one more AKC trial in Palmeto; let’s see how it will be.
Lake Louisa State Park is the newer addition to the Florida State Parks family (its campground was opened in 2003). Not far from Orlando, this park is noted for its beautiful lakes, rolling hills and scenic landscapes. A Quaker’s merchant ship was wrecked near the Florida coast in 1696. We know about this fact because of Jonathan Dickinson who was one of the crew members. He wrote a journal where he logged their journey up to the coast of St. Augustine. He was the first who described the place near the shipwreck. After that, almost tree hundred years later, the state park was opened there, and it was called by his name – Jonathan Dickinson state park.
Can a strip mine do any good? Most folks probably say: “No, especially from environmental point of view”. And they will be right. But… previously, there was a phosphorus strip mine, and now it is a home of Alafia River State Park. The mine was eventually abandoned, and because it happend before the remediation laws took effect, people just left it as is. Over time, the Nature has returned to its possession, and now Alafia River SP is famous for its mountain bike trails.
